Is Chinese worth it?

The Chinese Language

A daunting task to a language learner: mastering Chinese fluency. The Chinese language isn't easy, and presents numerous challenges. To start, Chinese is a tonal language. A tonal language is one in which a word's meaning is determined by the pronunciation, and the "highness" or "lowness" of the speakers voice. For an English speaker, or anyone who doesn't speak a tonal language, this is very different from what he or she is used to. Despite being a difficult language, it is worth it in the end.

China, being a large economic world power, is filled with opportunity which is forever expanding. One third of the human population is Chinese; therefore giving a Chinese speaker the ability to communicate with a third of the whole human population. With this knowledge and skill endless opportunities arise, including travel opportunities, jobs, and more.
Chinese isn't an over the night project, rather a lifelong journey requiring longs hours of studying and hard work. This is a major downside to the process of learning Chinese. What pushes most people away is the dedication required; nevertheless the positives out way the negatives.
I recommend learning Chinese, and using "said" skill to further progress in a language full of opportunities and gain the ability to communicate with over a third of the whole human population. To learn more click here!

  1. This blog post was very interesting to read. I've never tried to learn a different language. If I were to attempt to learn a different language I would most likely not pick Chinese because it seems very difficult to learn considering you have to get not only the pronunciation correct but also the tone of your voice has to be correct. This doesn't seem like a language I would excel in if I were to try learning it.

  2. Every foreign language has its difficulties. To excel in anything is dependent on the work and effort someone is willing to put forth a goal. The Chinese language is only as difficult as the learner seeks it out to be; I encourage people to learn a few words in as many languages as possible to open his or her horizons. Like anything, learning takes practice, and dedication.
